Ive Learned
You cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them. No matter how much I care, some people just don't care back. It takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it. It's not what you have - it's who you have in your life that counts. You can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life. It's taken me a long time to become the person I want to be. You should always leave loved ones with loving words - It may be the last time you see them. The people you care about most in life are taken from you MUCH too soon... We are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. Either you control your attitude or it controls you. Credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being. Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for what we do. Maturity has more to do with experiences you've had and what you've learned from them- and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated. You should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish- nothing is more humiliating and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it. Even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help. Heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done - regardless of the consequences. No matter how bad your heart is broken - the world does not stop for your grief. Your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people who aren't related to you- can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families are not always biological. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resource Box - © Danielle Hollister (2004) is the Publisher of BellaOnline Quotations Zine - A free newsletter for quote lovers featuring more than 10,000 quotations in dozens of categories like - love, friendship, children, inspiration, success, wisdom, family, life, and many more. Death & the Supernatural: Poetry/Five Poems Supernatural PoetryHere are five poems,-what I call-death and supernatural poems. Perhaps a bit bizarre, a few stanzas may be, but with unfailing subtlety of course, and a ting of acuteness, but we have to hag on if we want a good ride:1. Lord Byrons She Walks in Beauty Lord Byron's opening couplet to "She Walks In Beauty" is among the most memorable and most quoted lines in romantic poetry. The opening lines are effortless, graceful, and beautiful, a fitting match for his poem about a woman who possesses effortless grace and beauty. Questions many a student has asked, from Harvard all the way to the community college in one's hometown. What is the answer? Well, I can give you mine, and I'm sure if you asked a hundred writers, or a hundred scholars, you'd get two hundred different answers. I Saw the Universe I can see the cerulean blue of the skiesOr the indigo of the nightI can see the stars wink, the grin of the moonDuring the changes of it's monthly face**I am in awe**I see the sun on it's annual trekAlternately awakening the life in the earthAnd then fading away to allow it to sleepUntil the next spring**I am told the Universe is "out there"Beyond those stars, moon and sun,Yet the power of what I can seeIs a fathoming beyond my comprehension**I am in awe**"Out there" no time, no seasons passNo sense of age, hatred or loss existOnly the infinity0f the Universe**What IS "out there"?What IS the Universe that has no end? What IS the power that creates all this?I want to see it too**And then I remember.. Two Poems, with Figurative Language Says Mr. Dennis Siluk, when asked to review his poetry somewhat, for he hesitates all the time when I ask him to so; I can tell you. Five Poems Poems have different cores, or so I believe, and can only be structured well for certain figurative language-heart beats; like all counselors are not made for all clients, so all poems are not made for the same person, or purpose; when we read we all have our likes and dislikes; I do not necessarily know what poetry is per se, but I do know what the greatness of poetry has, and great poetry is close to an illusion?it carries an echo I do believe-figurative yes, at best, and questionable yes, by far. Here are five poems I've recently wrote, all with a different core, focus and style. Lamenting Poetic Moods [six Poems] Advance: in Mr. Siluk's poetry one finds symbolist values, sensuous impressions; verbal magic and even childish jingles; at times the popular 8-syllable verse (ballad metre). Why I enjoy Writing? During interviews and general conversations with the public, one of the most difficult questions for me to answer(timely and thoroughly) is,"Why do you enjoy writing"?So due to the challenge manifested in such a question,I pondered on creating an answer. Many reasons came to mind, but after digesting much"time for thought",I managed to condense my response to three items. Choices You can do and you can bewhatever you want. You have the power, and the right,to make the changes. Learn About Love From Poet Rumi In this modern age of technology, busy lifestyles, and obsession with consumerism have taken a lot of the romance and love out of our lives. The Internet has become a medium to connect with people as everyone is finding it a lot harder to meet one another in the 'real' world. |
